| Hello
Pussy Posse!!!
june
4, 2003 - Welcome us home for a bit! We are back after
a fucking amazing tour(s) As you all know we went out with Zakk
Wylde's Black Label Society for a west coast tour de
force which was no less than spectacular. Playing to mostly virgins
everynight it was tailor made for the pussy! Zakk is a helluva guy
and his whole band and crew are a pack of sweethearts, (well most
of them anyways). Besides a transmission breakdown in fucking Ape
City, Arizona the tour was swell and everyday was a new excuse to
get on or off the bus. We found out from Zakk that the tour bus
we used for Tattoo The Earth was the same piece of shit bus wasn't
just Journey's lame-o bus but also the same one that Randy Rhodes'
plane hit that Ozzy was sleeping in when the plane hit it. Sad story
but Zakk is determined to carry his torch and I think he's doing
it dammit.
Cute
boy alert - Nick the guitar player - as far as I know is
totally up for grabs and any chick who doesn't is a sucker - he's
a catch - and he's in the movie Rock Star and a helluva guitar player
too! Tell him Ruyter sent ya!
It
was sad to say goodbye to them BLS boys but all good things must
pass besides we were on to an even better tour - our own - in Europe!!
We started to tour in Le Mans - the 24 hour motorcycle race in France.
Our first night we got to watch Peter Pan Speedrock tear shit up.
Them Dutch boys kick ass - they're like the new Zeke - with a little
Rose Tattoo thrown in for good measure. The next day we headlined
with our Canadian buddies Bionic opening up for us and the Fuzztones
closing. Needless to say everyone stayed up real late getting our
Euro feet on the ground. We jumped the wee pond for a British quickie
in London - at the classic Garage which was packed to the gills
and smelling like soup as usual. Everyone doped up on their last
blast of Fish and Chips and true 'English' before heading back to
the continent.
We played Holland just enough to fuel ourselves for the rest of
the tour, France and Germany; Bishopfswerda and Karlsruhe's Substage
being highlights. Katie can't stop saying Bishopfswerda - it's her
new favorite word. Check out the pics from Substage- which was an
old subway station converted into a club- very cool! For the first
time in our lives since we first hit the road with The Pleasure
Fuckers we shared the Bus with BIONIC.
At first we were kinda scared - but they're Canadian so we figured
they'd be pushovers - HAH! Turned out they were fucking great to
tour with, and good at defending themselves as well - a total breath
of fresh air to hang with - everyone wound up pairing off in evil
little groups to form new bizarre unions to maintain sanity.
Out of the whole tour Greece was definatley the highlight - we've
never eaten such good food in our lives - the whole band agreed
it was the best meal of the tour, if not forever. I'm ruined now
for Greek food and for coffee too - we spent more time in Italy
than ever before and we really, really like it; the people and the
language are just beautiful - But I swear I can't even drink French
coffee after Italy. (yes I can) Europe is ruining me for North America-
where the hell gonna get coffee and weed now! Damn Holland! - raising
our standards!!
We got to see the Acropolis/Parthenon while in Greece and it was
incredible - we crawled around the ruins with some high faluntant
so and so - we didn't recognize whoever this dude was but he went
surrounded by security- FBI style - American rent-a-dudes with them
little walkie talkie's in their ears- like ten cars worth of security
- turns out he was some kind of Army General or something - he certainly
wasn't no movie star. Guess he was done fightin' and needed alittle
R n R. Thankfully he didn't mind us hanging around his tour of the
Parthenon and hear from an English guide what the hell we were looking
at. We found out the Parthenon was built by paid workers - not slaves-
and they were paid a Drachma a day. And we found out that there
is a complete Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee!! (duh)
Oh
yeah- and the show in Athens was top of the line as well- despite
jet lag and being full of food! The audience was fabulous and the
boys are good looking!! (mama kin?) We went to "Garage Night"
at a rock and roll bar after the gig where they had a poster of
us on the wall over life size- it was like ten feet high!We got
to dance with hot Greek women - who really know how to shake it!
And we got to drink the local gasoline from Crete. Tasty!
Then
we went to Rome! OK the Acropolis is where it all started - then
the Romans ripped off the Greeks for everything they knew, but....The
Collusseum in Rome is absolutley amazing, still standing and is
still being used!! The place was surrounded by sound and light trucks
- turns out Paul McCartney was preparing for a gig there in a few
days. A "private" invite only gig for 500 people - at
$1500 ticket! I can't wait til they let us play there - It'll look
like the Parthenon by the time we're through! We got kicked out
of the area we had to plug our bus in - the club owner and our tour
manager had some 'problem' with eachother - so we had to drive.
Before Blaine was arrested we woke up Norbert the German driver
after only two hours of sleep and wound up having a drunken tour
of Rome in the midddle of the night with no traffic or people to
contend with. We saw the collusseum again, the tomb of the unknown
solider which is HUGE and has it's own 24 hour guards. The City
Hall, Bernini's Pantheon, and even the home of Ennio Morricone he's
like a god over there. We saw the 'boca del veridad' Mouth of Truth
- which is some ancient guillotine/lie detector - supposedly you'd
put yer hand in it's mouth - then tell a 'truth' and if you were
lying - your hand would get chopped off!! We even got to see the
Circus Maximus - basically the old style Nascar- where they had
the chariot races. Jeremy, Jonathan and Tim went running around
on the track all keystone cops style. Jeremy swears he peed his
name on the ground and spelt it JEREMYUS - I'm pretty sure he just
wrote Jer and nothing else.
While in Rome we also got to see the famous fountains where you
throw a coin in to ensure your return to that fountain! After Italy
we went to Croatia and Slovenia - Blaine had been there with Nine
Pound Hammer so he had his own following including his own mega
fan on the local radio station where we were interviewed but it
was Nashville Pussy's first time. Both shows were packed- sold out
- and important 'cultural' shows it seemed - in Slovania- a school
200 km away shipped in 80 kids to see our show as part of an ART
class. There were all these kids wearing backpacks and were seriously
like only 16 years old. The same happened in Croatia - only they
weren't shipped in for school- they were there anyways and horny!!
It was like a rock n roll love fest outside the bus - some little
girl gave me a hickey!!
We
did a few more awesome shows in Italy and drove back to Paris to
fly home. As soon as we got back to ATL we HAD to go see Camarosmith
one night Supersuckers the next and the Datsuns two days ago! (Sexy
boy week in Hotlanta!)
This
was by far the best Euro tour ever - got to make tight friends with
another band and get to travel to a bunch of new places and even
the weather was fantastic! We're headed back at the end of the month
to do Spain, France and festivals in Belgium!!
Anyways
- had a blast - we wish it hadn't ended - We 'go down' to Japan
and Australia in a week! Leave June 5th and come back after about
eight days - teaser tour!! (coz we wanna go back already - even
though we haven't been there yet!!) Hawaii got cancelled - but they
are still at the top of the list! Rock the fuck on y'all - we had
a ball - and to all the strangers - we'll see ya down the road!
Ruyter
P.S.
we're playing the Mulletfest in Chicago for the Onion (best newspaper
in the world) on June 28th - The Cherry Valance is opening - don't
miss em!
